Hydration is Key

Happy Thirsty Thursday!

Hydration is key to maintaining a healthy body. And the proper hydration is essential. Water should be your best friend! Yes, your best friend. Water is cheap and versatile.

There are some guidelines to ensure you are getting enough water. The most well know “target” is 64 oz a day, or (8) 8 oz glasses. Other studies say you should drink 1 oz per 2 lbs of weight. so if you weigh 200 lbs you should drink 100 oz of water. In my opinion, if you don’t drink a lot of water now, start small. Add a few more glasses each day until you get to the target you want to reach.

For me, I drink on average 120 – 160 oz of water a day. Yikes! That is a lot of water, I know. But it is pretty much all I drink all day long. I avoid soda and other flavored drinks like the plague. Ok… not that bad but I do avoid them. It is a personal as well as a medical decision to cut out most everything but water. I have chronic migraines so I find that caffeine and artificial sugar trigger a headache. I do occasionally get the urge for something bubbly like a soda. I choose to drink a La Croix  sparkling water. They are naturally flavored with no sweeteners added. Tangerine is wonderful. My hubby likes the passion fruit flavor.

Do some research. Here are a couple of articles I found regarding water and weight loss.  5 ways Drinking More Water can Help You Lose More Weight
